Acne
Avoiding any irritation or friction to the affected area, avoiding occlusive clothing and contact between the hands and face, and reducing stress (see lifestyle section) can help to treat acne. Pregnancy, along with other conditions and substances can fluctuate hormone levels which can result with acne.
Benzoyl peroxide gels and washes are highly effective and are available over the counter. Salicylic acid products are also available over the counter. Products used to treat acne may require a few weeks of time before they begin to work. Products used for treating acne can result in dry skin, and therefore the use of a non comedogenic moisturizer(see complementary products below) is recommended for use after washing. If the acne is severe or persistent, there are many different prescription medications available which will require a prescription from your doctor.
