Changing diapers immediately after defecation or urination (a minimum of 6 times per day), using disposable diapers, and avoiding wiping the affected area with the clean part of the diaper can help treat diaper rash.

Flushing the area with water, patting dry, then applying a protectant during diaper changes is often recommended.
