If you are under 18, have any other medical conditions, if you develop swelling of the airways, difficulty breathing, a fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, poison ivy on a large portion of your body, or poison ivy on your eyes, mouth or genitals, it is particularly important that you contact your healthcare provider.
The following can help treat poison ivy:
Apply rubbing alcohol to the contact area, then rinse with cool running water.
Remove and wash all clothes.
Shower with soap and water or TECNU.
Once outbreaks begin, apply the recommended creams.
Applying cool compresses to the area and taking cool baths may help to decrease irritation. Avoid scratching.
